Gundog Competitions Very Popular at GCF

Chapel Farm was pleased to sponsor the gundog competitions at Galloway Country Fair by providing bags of Performance 24+ for the award winners of the scurry’s and working tests.
These competitions have proved increasingly popular year on year and attracted a high number of entries on both days.
However they could not have taken place without the efforts of the members of Galloway Gundogs who did a great job in organising and running these events and we are most grateful for all their hard work.

Nearly Time for Galloway Country Fair

Not long now until the Galloway Country Fair which takes place in the grounds of Drumlanrig Castle on the 18th and 19th of August.
This is a real day out for the whole family with wide ranging entertainment for all.
Dog owners are very well catered for with Tests, Scurries, a Lurcher and Terrier Show, and a Dog Show.
In the main arena we are delighted to note that once again Chapel Farm Sponsored gundog trainer John Halsted will be demonstrating his Champion Labradors. See how he not only won two Retriever Championships, but also became the only person to qualify five Retrievers in the same year for the prestigious event. John will also spend time in the Chapel Farm marquee after his display where he will be able to answer your queries on gundog training.

Well done to all in the awards with congratulations once again to sponsored junior handler Tallulah Dyson, second from the left, on her junior win with Willow.
Congratulations also to dad Phil on his second place in the Puppy Test.

It will be a busy time ahead for the Dyson family with Tests and Game Fairs and we wish all members every success.

A Great Time at Scone Game Fair

David and youngster Brocklinton Betty – “Mini” took part in her first competition, the Novice Spaniel Test at Scone Game Fair. Luck was on their side and following a closely run contest they were awarded first place with Eddie Scott second and Kim Stewart in third.

Our thanks to the organisers, competitors and all others who help to make Scone Game Fair the excellent event that it is.

Our Thanks to Kevin Crawley for This.

“Our team of working Black Labradors mean everything to us, they are loving family pets and when called upon are true athletes in the field over the shooting season. We have been feeding Chapel Farm Original 20 & 24 plus for the past five years. After intensive research, we (and our Labradors) love this food and everywhere we go people remark on their wonderful condition and how shiny their coats are! With five dogs in our team we find the food amazing quality and value for money.
As working dog trainers, we have recommended Chapel Farm to our clients and are happy to report that all of them have seen an improvement not only in the dog’s condition but also in their behaviour.”

Well Done Melissa, Lottie and Buddy

Thanks to Chapel Farm sponsored Agility Handler Melissa MacRae for this update on the season so far.

“Lottie is competing consistently well at Grade 7; we’ve reached 2 Championship Finals this year with just small errors costing us placings. Buddy my young dog is going into his second season of competing, things are starting to come together now and he recently won a class at Wigton DTC Show which moves him up from Grade 3 to Grade 4. (Grades go from 1-7 but once your first dog gets to Grade 3, any of your future dogs must start competing at Grade 3, which meant Buddy began his career competing against more experienced dogs).”

Thanks also for the photo showing Lottie and Buddy with Rosettes won so far this season. We look forward to hearing of future success which we are sure will not be far away.

Well Done Tallulah, Amelia and Phil.

Congratulations once again to the talented Dyson family who had an excellent time at The Broadlands Country Fair where Chapel Farm Sponsored Junior Handler Tallulah, young sister Amelia and dad Phil all featured among the awards. Amelia was awarded Third Places for the Hurdles and the Short Fence, with Phil awarded a first in the Adult Short Fence.
Phil followed this up yesterday in the Tyne, Tees & Tweed Puppy Test where he picked up a second place with 10-month old new addition Fern.
Well done all.

Success for Team Scotland at Retriever World Cup

Buccleuch Gundogs and Chapel Farm would like to offer congratulations to Team Scotland on their being awarded first place at the “Skinners International Retriever World Cup” held at the weekend. Scotland was represented by Drew Allan, Donnie Leitch, George Buchan with Captain Roddy Forbes and reserve David Lisett.

Second place was awarded to Team Ireland with Team England in third. Teams from fourteen countries took part in the competition held over 2 days and this is the first time that Scotland have won. In addition to their first place, Drew Allan was awarded Top Dog on the Saturday and Team Scotland also picked up an award for “Best Dressed Team”

Well done to all who took part and contributed to making it an excellent event.

Congratulations to Tallulah and Amelia

It has been a busy Easter break for the daughters of Yorkshire Chapel Farm Stockist Phil Dyson.

It started last weekend with Tallulah and Willow winning a rosette in each of the three junior scurries at Thame Country Show. First in the Multi pickup, second in the Bales and third in the Dummy Launcher. Young sister Amelia and Pixie also did well at the same event and were awarded third in the Multi.

During the week they enjoyed a training session and picked up some tips from Sam Thatcher of Strigidae Gundogs which set Tallulah and Willow up nicely for the Northumberland and Durham Labrador Retriever Club Junior Working Test at Leadhill House where they were lucky enough to be awarded first place (for the second time) with a score of 75/80.

Well done to both girls and good luck with the next competition.

Thanks to Phil for the photo showing the girls and dogs getting in some training before the event.
